System Administrator (Technical Operations)


Brief Description

 As a System Administrator you will be responsible for all of our Technical Operations. You will manage the day to day operation of our colo and public cloud infrastructure. 



Ayasdi uses a pioneering approach to automatically discover insights from complex data. Founded in 2008 after a decade of research at Stanford, DARPA, and NSF, Ayasdi uses Topological Data Analysis (TDA) to unify best-of-breed machine learning approaches into a common framework without the need to write algorithms, queries or models. We’re building a platform to solve some of the world’s most complex data problems, are well funded by top-tier VCs and have a passionate team with a great culture.



  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent 5+ years combination of technical training and experience related to the essential skills knowledge and abilities below.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in linux system administration such as CentOS, RedHat and Ubuntu.
  • Experience with fundamental networking and distributed computing concepts.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written skills, and communication and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively work with other system administrators, application developers, and end-users.
  • Experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible, to administer systems.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools that provide continuous diagnostic data.
  • Background administering deployments in cloud based services (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure)


Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of Hadoop or other big data applications
  • Administering and expanding a Kubernetes cluster
  • Experience with Python and Shell scripting
  • Experience working with VMware vSphere
  • Previous startup experience
  • Some familiarity with compliance efforts (annual security audit and policy audits)
  • Experience with security auditing tools and services such as Trustwave or Qualys
  • Experience administering and maintaining server environments for complex distributed software applications (Java preferred)
